DelCOG supports HB 155 to ensure Public Integrity Commission reports are available online

DelCOG supports the passage of House Bill 155, which would require that the Public Integrity Commission that any reports prepared by the Commission would need to be made publicly available on its website.

Passed June 2025.

DelCOG supports HB 155, which, in its simplicity, advances the need for transparency and accountability in our state government and reinforces the necessity that acting in the public trust is a vital component of our state democracy.

Although annual reports have been available on the Public Integrity Commission’s website since 1998, HB 155’s annual reporting and website posting requirements will clarify and reinforce public confidence that the Public Integrity Commission serves in the public interest, as described in the Oath of Office.

As written in the Delaware Code, Title 29, Chapter 58, and as stated in HB 155, “by describing its activities for the previous year,” it is DelCOG’s interpretation that, in its annual report and studies, the Public Integrity Commission will disclose its thoughtful decisions of proceeding with or denying an investigation for possible public trust violations.  And, these decisions will be available for public review.

Though the bill is brief, HB 155 is important to strengthen transparency and accountability at the Public Integrity Commission.
